HORNETS VENOM GT GUARD CRAIG “RIGBY” BURNETT JR. TO PARTICIPATE IN INAUGURAL NBA 2K LEAGUE ALL-STAR GAME

September 5, 2021 – The NBA 2K League has announced that Hornets Venom GT guard Craig “rigby” Burnett Jr. has been selected to the Eastern Conference team for the inaugural NBA 2K League All-Star Game.

The eighth overall pick in the 2021 NBA 2K League Draft, rigby is the only rookie on the Eastern Conference team and one of only two rookies taking part in the game.  He averaged 22.8 points, 5.4 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.7 rebounds in 28 games played in his debut season, while shooting 54.2% from the field and 47.3% from beyond the three-point line.  He ranked 10th in the NBA 2K League in three-point field goals (132), tied for 10th in steals per game and ranked 20th in points per game.

In July, rigby became the first rookie to be named MVP of THE TURN Powered by AT&T after leading Hornets Venom GT to its first-ever in-season tournament title.  Rigby averaged 21.3 points, including 25.0 points in the semifinals and finals, as Hornets Venom GT went 8-1 in the tournament and posted 2-0 sweeps over Nets GC in the quarterfinals, Heat Check Gaming in the semifinals and Blazer5 Gaming in the finals.

The inaugural NBA 2K League All-Star Game will be held on Saturday, September 25, at 7 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels.  The rosters consist of three guards and four frontcourt players from each conference and were determined by a vote of fans, current NBA 2K League players, head coaches and general managers, and a media panel.

Hornets Venom GT, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, went 19-9 during the 2021 NBA 2K League regular season, posting the second-best record in the Eastern Conference.
