Hornets Venom GT Acquires Guard Kory “Chess” Taylor From Pacers Gaming in Three-Team Trade

Hornets Venom GT Also Announces Guard Trey “TreyDollaz” Wright Has Left The Team For Personal Reasons.

May 28, 2024 Hornets Venom GT, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, today announced that the team has acquired guard Kory “Chess” Taylor from Pacers Gaming and Hawks Talon Gaming’s third-round pick in the 2025 NBA 2K League Draft from NBL Oz Gaming in a three-team trade. In addition, Hornets Venom GT announced that guard Trey “TreyDollaz” Wright has left the team for personal reasons.

As part of the trade, Hornets Venom GT sent guard Ryan “RekCombos” Reteguiz, who the team selected from the player pool to replace TreyDollaz, to NBL Oz Gaming and the Gen.G Tigers of Shanghai’s first-round pick in the 2025 NBA 2K League Draft to Pacers Gaming. The trade also includes guard Caesar “Ceez” Martinez going from NBL Oz Gaming to Pacers Gaming and Dux Infinitos’ second-round pick in the 2025 NBA 2K League Draft going from Pacers Gaming to NBL Oz Gaming.

Chess is currently in his fourth season in the NBA 2K League and previously played for NetsGC and Grizz Gaming prior to joining Pacers Gaming in 2023. During the season’s first 5v5 tournament, THE TIPOFF Powered by AT&T, he averaged 19.7 points and 4.0 assists while shooting 62.5% from the field, 57.1% from beyond the three-point line and 80.0% from the free-throw line.

Chess joins center Kingsley “Crown” Braggs, guard Jamaal “Mooch” Gill and forwards Kevon “Flukelock” Matthias and Xavier “Big Saint” St. John on Hornets Venom GT’s roster.
