HORNETS VENOM GT ADDS FOUR IN 2021 NBA 2K LEAGUE DRAFT

March 14, 2021 – Hornets Venom GT, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, added four players during last night’s 2021 NBA 2K League Draft.
With the eighth overall pick, Hornets Venom GT selected guard Craig “rigby” Burnett Jr. With the 15th overall pick, Hornets Venom GT brought back forward Giovanni “Trap” Elizondo, who played for the team last season but was not retained. During the draft, Hornets Venom GT acquired the 20th overall pick from Jazz Gaming in exchange for Alex “Expose” Whelan and used it to select forward/center Kingsley “Crown” Braggs. Finally, with the 53rd overall pick, Hornets Venom GT added forward Harsimran “Dhuggzz” Dhugga.
Rigby, Crown and Dhuggzz are newcomers to the NBA 2K League this season, qualifying through the Grizz Gaming, CLTX Gaming and Magic Gaming tournaments, respectively. A native of Brampton, Ontario, Dhuggzz was a member of the Canadian National Team for the 2020 FIBA Esports Open.
In 37 games played for Hornets Venom GT last season, Trap averaged 5.2 points, 2.7 steals, 2.2 assists and 1.3 rebounds, ranking eighth in the NBA 2K League in steals per game.
The four draft picks join center Peter “PeteBeBallin” Malin and guard Justin “Sherm” Sherman, both of whom were acquired in November from Mavs Gaming, to comprise Hornets Venom GT’s six-man roster.
PeteBeBallin averaged 12.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.7 blocks and 1.8 steals in 38 regular-season games for Mavs Gaming in 2020, ranking fifth in the league in field goal percentage (71.4%), sixth in blocks per game and 14thin rebounds per game.
Sherm averaged 22.6 points, 5.3 assists and 1.2 steals for Mavs Gaming in 2020, while shooting 58.2% from the field and 47.3% from beyond the three-point line.
Hornets Venom GT went 9-7 in its inaugural NBA 2K League season in 2020 and made the quarterfinals of the NBA 2K League Playoffs delivered by DoorDash.
