Hornets Venom GT Acquires 2020 All-NBA 2K League First-Team Center Gerald “Sick One” Knapp From Raptors Uprising GC

November 14, 2020Hornets Venom GT, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, today acquired 2020 All-NBA 2K League First Team center Gerald “Sick One” Knapp from Raptors Uprising GC in exchange for center Xavier “Type” Vescovi.  Prior to the trade, the team exercised its option to retain Type in exchange for its second-round pick in the 2021 NBA 2K League Draft.

Sick One earned All-NBA 2K League First Team honors in 2020 after averaging 14.4 points, 12.9 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 2.7 blocks and 1.8 steals in 36 regular-season games, while helping lead Raptors Uprising GC to an undefeated 16-0 record in the regular season, as well as the championships of both THE TIPOFF and THE TURN.  He ranked seventh in the league in both rebounds per game and blocks per game, and 11th in field goal percentage (69.7%).

Sick One entered the NBA 2K League in 2018, when he was selected by Cavs Legion GC with the 19th overall pick.  He was retained for the 2019 season and was traded to Raptors Uprising GC in May 2019, where he was then retained for the 2020 season.  In 2020, the New Jersey native was joined by his brother Jake “Legit973” Knapp to become the first set of siblings to play on the same team in NBA 2K League history.

Type joined Hornets Venom GT as the first overall pick in last season’s NBA 2K League Expansion Draft.  In 28 regular-season appearances, he averaged 13.6 points, 12.3 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 3.0 blocks and 2.7 steals, finishing tied for first in the league in blocks per game, tied for sixth in steals per game and 11th in rebounds.

In September, Hornets Venom GT retained 2020 NBA 2K League All-Rookie Team selection Zaeya “Zae” Ishak, Justin “Snubby” Stemerman and Alex “Expose” Whelan for the 2021 NBA 2K League season.

Hornets Venom GT went 9-7 in its inaugural NBA 2K League season in 2020 and made the quarterfinals of the NBA 2K League Playoffs delivered by DoorDash.
