2022 Venom Open Rules and Regulations

Hornets Venom GT will be hosting an Online Tournament as detailed in the Offseason Tournaments and Draft Pool Eligibility guidelines starting on Wednesday, October 5th and ending on Friday, October 14th. The winning team from PlayStation and Xbox will be invited to be draft eligible for the Season 6 NBA 2K League draft and two Prospects who receive the prospect badge will also be invited to be draft Eligible.

Dates and Times are as followed

• October 1^st – 3:00 PM ET – Announcement of event and signups open
• October 4^th – Bracket Reveal Show
• October 5th – Tournament Starts
• October 14^th – Tournament Ends

Tournament Info:

• Amateur Draft Eligible players must be 18 by (before) January 1, 2023
• Players under this age are eligible to play, but they forfeit draft eligibility
• Entry fee is $100 per team
• Rules and regulations can be viewed on HornetsVenomGT.com or through the official team discord linked afterwards.
• No cap on amount of teams
• We will not be adding players to your rosters, whatever you sign up with first is the team.
• Games will be best of 3, with finals being best of 5

Rules:

• NBA 2K League players who participated in Season 5 of the NBA 2K League are restricted from playing in this tournament in any capacity.
• Rosters will consist of 5 players final, and there will be no substitutes.
• Winning teams will provide screenshots of the round played with clear photos that are not obscured in any way in the Hornets Venom GT discord in the channel designated “screenshots”.
• Games will be started and played in certain time windows designated below, if not started “Refs” designated as Lawrence “BiggWest” West, or any individual they deem as representatives of being a “Ref” will be monitoring over the situation and handing out forfeitures to teams who did not make an earnest effort to play during the window.
• When a game is scheduled during their designated window by both mutual captains of teams, they will be scheduled to play at that time. If one team does not show at this designated time it will be a forfeit even if the team is ready at a different time during the window.
  • Games are scheduled for 1-3 PM, but both captains agree on 1:15 PM, if one captain is not ready to play, they forfeit by 1:45 PM if the game is not started.
• “Lag out” rules will apply in these situations
  • If someone lags out of the game before the 4:00 mark in the first quarter game will be completely restarted with score being 0-0, unless before this time a team is down more than 9, and then game would be restarted with the score applied in the next game.
  • If there is a “lag out” after the 3:00 mark in the tournament one of these two rules will be applied
    • If losing team “lags out” the game will be restarted and the team that was winning will be provided the points covered in the game. Ex. If team was up 5, they are up 5 on the restart.
    • If winning team “lags out” the game will be restarted at 0-0
  • If the losing team “Lags out” twice in a row, it is an automatic game forfeit, and the next game will be started at 0-0.
  • Any “Lag Out” from the 3^rd quarter onwards the game must be finished as-is, you will not be allowed a restart.
  • We at Hornets Venom GT would like to showcase a game series per round to broadcast on our team channels for content, if selected to be one of the games, one player active in the game MUST provide a stream broadcast through any streaming service and provide it to one of the Hornets Venom staff members for use with our channel.
  • Teams are required if on broadcast to have the Hornets Venom GT Tournament logo on center court. Games will not count otherwise.
  • Teams are required to have Hornets Venom Open in the title of their stream.
  • Once the Final four begins, team reps will need to create burner Twitch accounts and stream on those channels for us to use for our broadcast. We will be the primary source of game footage for the semi-finals and finals.

Dates & Times (Each Console):

• Signups Open: October 1 at 3:00 PM ET. Payment needs to be confirmed on signup, expect for your captain to be contacted by BiggWest with a discord link.
• Bracket Reveal Show: Tuesday, October 4th at 9 PM ET
• 1^st Round: October 5-6
  • Games can be played during the entirety of the day.
• 2^nd Round: October 7-8
  • Round will be played during the entirety of the day
• 3^rd Round: October 9-10
  • Round will be played during the entirety of the day
• Round of 8: October 11-12
  • Round will be played during the entirety of the day.
• Final 4: October 13
  • Round will be played between 5 PM – midnight
  • Games will need to be staggered unless absolutely necessary
  • Your game can’t override with another final 4 game for broadcasting purposes
  • Our broadcasting rules apply
• Finals: October 14 
• Round will be played between 5 PM – midnight
