Hornets Venom Returns to Action Following Extended Layoff

Hornets Venom endured consecutive bye weeks following back-to-back splits with the Gen.G Tigers and Knicks Gaming on June 18-19, but is back on the court this week to take on fellow 10-4 Grizz Gaming. Charlotte had up-and-down performances over its 2-2 showing two-and-a-half weeks ago, although capped off the four-game stretch by getting a career-high 21 points from lock Gio “Trap” Elizondo, who also currently leads the 2K League in steals (2.6).

Rebounding, Low Turnovers Keying Grizz Gaming’s Hot Start

After racing out to a 9-1 regular season start, Grizz Gaming has dropped three of its last four appearances in back-to-back fashion, including a sweep from Wizards DG followed by a split with 76ers GC. Memphis still remains a formidable opponent, currently sitting first in the 2KL in turnovers (4.4) and third in rebounding (20.1), with individual league-leader and center Mehyar “AuthenticAfrican” Ahmed-Hassan (14.9) leading the charge in the latter category.

Matchup to Watch: Sherm vs. Vandi

Two of the top point guards from the 2019 NBA 2KL Draft class square off tonight in Justin “Sherm” Sherman and Zach “Vandi” Vandivier. Sherm continues to thrive as the lead ball-handler on his new team in Charlotte, putting up averages of 21.6 points, 9.8 assists – 12th in the 2KL League – and just 2.2 turnovers in 14 regular season outings.

On the other side, Vandi enters this one sitting 10th in the 2KL in scoring (25.7 points), although is just 8-of-24 from three-point range across the team’s recent 1-3 stretch (33.3%). The stakes will certainly be high tonight with two of the conference’s top squads
